Arthritis Care’s training courses are ‘lay-led’, which means that they are conducted by people who have arthritis or another long-term condition.
They have benefited from the courses themselves and are inspired to give something back. As volunteers, they receive no payment for their time, finding satisfaction instead in passing on the messages and information that have been so useful to them.
Our trainers receive comprehensive, professional training and are subject to ongoing assessment, which is all recorded in their Passport to Practice. All course leaders are Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked and always deliver courses in teams of two or three.
They receive continuous support from Arthritis Care staff, with frequent one-to-one contact from their supervisor. Our volunteers gain a great deal from becoming part of the fabric of the organisation and we are enormously grateful for the time and expertise that they give.
If you are interested in becoming a training volunteer, please contact your nearest Arthritis Care office for more information.
