Help us call on employers to make a positive difference for people with arthritis.
Arthritis Care is asking employers throughout the UK to make a positive difference for people with arthritis at work by signing our Employers' Pledge
Arthritis can have a severe impact on a person’s ability to access or remain in employment. All too often, however, people with arthritis do not get the support they need from their employer in order to remain in work and lead productive working lives.
We surveyed over 400 people with arthritis to find out about the challenges they face at work and asked them what support they need from their employer. They told us they need:
- flexible working conditions
- arrangements for absences relating to their arthritis
- support with adjustments to the workplace
- understanding and awareness
Putting these measures into practice need not be difficult and is important to ensure a productive and happy workforce. Investing to support staff now will mean improved morale and lower turnover.
We know, however, that many employers are simply not aware of:
- the level of need out there
- how easy it can be to support employees with arthritis
- the existence of support schemes that are available to them
We are asking employers throughout the UK to sign our Employers’ Pledge to make a positive difference for people with arthritis at work. We need your help.
