Of all the misconceptions regarding arthritis, one of the most damaging relates to the effectiveness of treatments.

Although no cure for arthritis exists, an appropriate combination of treatments, services, safe exercise and self-management can make a significant difference to quality of life for a person with arthritis.

Access to treatments can mean the difference between independence or dependence – for example, between working or relying on benefits.

Despite this, access to treatments is often restricted for people with arthritis – sometimes because people are not informed of what’s available, but often because local health care for people with arthritis is underfunded and underdeveloped.
