Gift Aid is a government scheme that lets charities claim back valuable tax, so that your donations can do even more to help. For every £1 donated under Gift Aid, we are able to claim an additional 28p at no cost to you.
For example if you donate £10 and gift aid your donation, Arthritis Care receives £12.80 making your donation go even further.
Arthritis Care’s membership scheme also qualifies for Gift Aid.
If you are making a donation online, you will be asked if you would like to claim Gift Aid before you submit your payment details. Please ensure you ‘tick’ the box which allows us to claim Gift Aid on your behalf.
If you are sending the donation form in the post, please complete the Gift Aid section and send it to us along with your donation to: Supporter Services Team, Arthritis Care, Freepost, London NW1 0YW.
Even if you aren’t making a donation today – you can sign up to Gift Aid on any donation or membership fee you have already made in the last six years and we can back date your claim. Download Gift Aid declaration form
Gift Aid can apply to individual donations and membership of any amount made – you can Gift Aid your cash, cheque, postal order, direct debit, standing order and bankcard donations.
To be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme, you need to be a UK taxpayer. You need to have paid income tax or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the amount that we will be reclaiming, in the year that your gift is received by us. For example if you make a donation of £10.00 you will need to pay tax of £2.80 in the financial year that your donation is made.
The vast majority of people are eligible as the tax paid on pensions, savings and income qualifies towards the amount we claim.
For more information, contact HM Revenue & Customs directly by calling their Gift Aid Helpline on 0845 302 0203.
To work out how much Gift Aid we will receive, you can use the Charityfacts online Gift Aid Calculator
If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still make a donation, but we won’t be able to Gift Aid it.
Only Arthritis Care and the HMRC. We will not share them with anyone else.
