This year, one of our Flora London Marathon 2009 runners, Andrew Staniforth, raised sponsorship money for the marathon, with the help of his friends and family, by doing a sponsored walk on the Malverns, followed by a soup and cake sale.
Andrew’s wife Sarah was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis four years ago, at the age of 36 and has been learning to deal with the everyday challenges arthritis brings ever since.
Andrew and his friends raised £140 from donations and cakes, and had around 60 people taking part in the walk. Most were wearing pink for Arthritis Care, and braved cold winds to make it to Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point in Worcestershire.
