Although most people on the internet are nice people who are who they say they are, be careful. Some people might pretend to be someone else to make you trust them.
Here is some advice on how to stay safe when using the Arthritis Care message forums:
1. Remember that posting a message on the internet is like making a public announcement. Everyone can see that information, not just the person you have been talking to.
2. Don't reveal your, or anyone else’s, telephone number, home address or email address within your posts on the message boards. They are public.
3. Private messaging is NOT moderated. Please be careful when you use this feature. You use private messaging at your own risk.
4. Do not select Show Profile (in the your 'profile preferences') unless you want other users to see your profile details.
5. Only include your email and/or web address in your profile (NOT telephone numbers or postal addresses) if you wish to be contacted by other users. If in doubt, hide your email address.
6. Do not rely on the information or opinions expressed on this board. They are people's individual experiences.
7. Never change your medication without consulting your doctor. If you have questions or concerns about your arthritis, please consult your healthcare team.
8. Remember that Arthritis Care is not responsible for the content of the messages on this board and the opinions offered on this board are not necessarily those of Arthritis Care.
