What is Challenging Arthritis?

Challenging Arthritis courses run over a six-week period with one two-and-a-half hour session each week. It is delivered by two course leaders – usually training volunteers who have arthritis. A course will have a maximum of 18 participants all of whom have arthritis or fibromyalgia.

During the course, participants learn a wide range of techniques to help them and their condition. These include:

  • what is arthritis and fibromyalgia?
  • managing pain
  • symptom management
  • exercise
  • healthy eating
  • working better with health professionals
  • action planning
  • problem solving
  • depression
  • coping with emotions
  • evaluating treatments
