What do information volunteers do?

Information volunteers support people with arthritis in their local community. They provide Arthritis Care publications in hospitals and public places like community and independent living centres, libraries, GP surgeries and pharmacies.

The range of tasks our volunteers undertake can be quite varied. They could be:

  • handling booklet distribution
  • holding information days in a community centre
  • supporting newly diagnosed patients in a rheumatology clinic
  • giving short talks about Arthritis Care
  • or signposting to other services provided by Arthritis Care

Being an information volunteer offers a lot of flexibility depending on your interests and availability.

What kind of people are information volunteers?

Information volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds. We have a young working mum, a retired farmer, a mature student and a feisty septuagenarian. What they all have in common is personal experience of arthritis, passion and enthusiasm to support people who are affected by arthritis, and a drive to make a difference.
