Contrary to popular opinion arthritis isn’t just an older person’s disease. In Northern Ireland over 400 children and young people have juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Arthritis Care’s family and youth work service exists to provide information and support to younger people with arthritis and their families.
We encourage young people to get together for a variety of activity and discussion-based events. Talking to other young people in similar situations increases confidence and reduces feelings of isolation.
The events that we run for young people with arthritis and their parents throughout the year include:
- activity weekends
- discussion weekends
- Body Image weekends
- pantomime and parties
- summer events
- social nights out
