Arthritis Care’s Challenging Arthritis and You Can Break the Pain Cycle self-management courses help people with arthritis to understand their conditions and learn to manage them better. The courses are run throughout the province by specially trained volunteers. All the volunteers have arthritis themselves.
This is a six-week self-management course on pain management and relaxation techniques, action planning, and diet and exercise. It helps to improve confidence when dealing with health professionals and gives participants the opportunity to meet other people with arthritis. The course runs for two hours per week for the six-week duration and is free to attend.
This is a six-week self-management course to help people manage their long term condition more effectively. It enables them to deal with their symptoms and stress through techniques such as exercise, relaxation, problem solving and shared experience with others. Anyone with a long term condition can attend this course.
This is a half-day course aimed at helping people with arthritis to better manage their pain. It is for people who want to gain an enhanced understanding of their arthritis as well as learn a range of pain management techniques – including relaxation, stress management and exercise – and how to handle fatigue.
These courses are aimed at employers and health professionals to help them understand the issues facing people with arthritis who are either in their employment or in their care.
