Arthritis Care in Scotland and AbilityNet, the UK’s leading charity within the area of computing and disability, are working together to help people with arthritis to better use computer technology.

The benefits

Many already know the benefits that computers can bring to your life, particularly when connected to the internet.  It is a great way for shopping, communicating, relaxing, studying and working.

Yet many people find barriers when starting to use a computer.  They may have difficulty seeing the screen clearly, holding and moving the mouse, or even understanding the text written on the screen.

Overcoming the barriers

Arthritis Care in Scotland and AbilityNet are working together to provide everyone connected to Arthritis Care the opportunity to do a free online assessment and get the advice and information they need.  There is even equipment available on a free loan basis.

How does it work?

The process starts by using the free assessment tool

The assessment can last anything from 3 minutes to 20 minutes depending on what your answers are.

At the end you will be provided free information sheets produced by AbilityNet and have the option to come back and review your results again later via your personal ID and password.

Help from trained volunteers

Arthritis Care in Scotland have 2 key volunteers for this project who can provide help and advice. These volunteers are Kathleen Mackie (rapac_km@btinternet.com) and Anne Mair (rapac_am@btinternet.com)

Please contact them directly by email or call our office if you would like to arrange help over the telephone.

If further help and support is required, you will be put in contact with the appropriate staff at AbilityNet via their Advice and Information Service.

The project is funded by Betard Bequest
