Virtual group for Scotland
Arthritis Care’s virtual group in Scotland launched in January 2009 with the aim of bringing people with arthritis together to share their experiences, knowledge and support.
The online group was started by Colin Brannigan, after he was unable to find a group that met the needs of himself and his wife. It offers opportunities for people to meet, discuss things and support each other, isn’t restricted by your location, and is available whenever you need it.
Thanks to the wonders of technology, the online group also enables secure, live instant-messaging as part of scheduled Live Chats. These discussions cover a range of themes, and include guest visitors with knowledge in specific areas. Members also able to set up their own profile page, participate in forum discussions, and create their own blogs.
If you’re currently an Arthritis Care member living in Scotland, you can join the group straight away. If you’ve yet to become a member, you can do so quickly and easily by following the instructions on the group’s home page.
As Colin says ‘My wife can ask and reply to questions on the forums, but can also attend ‘meetings‘ by use of the Live Chat facility, and can do so even at times when her arthritis may keep her from going out. This enables her to get more support to help her better understand and manage her arthritis, and to better challenge the effects it has on her life.’
