Our activity weekend in 2011 was at Lagganlia near Kingussie - and it was a blast! 100% of those who came would do it again. We went canoeing, kayaking, gorge walking AND had a great camp-fire in the evening... and in 2012 we're doing it AGAIN!

So why go on an activity weekend? The people who came in 2011 were really surprised by what they could do, given the right support and teamwork. That's why gorge-walking was such a hit - as one person said: 'it was a challenge but showed me I can do almost anything if I put my mind to it'.

The activity weekend is one of 5 events in our Joint Potential programme: you get to try out a range of activities and have fun and loads of laughs with the other folk coming along. It will challenge you about what you can or can't do when you have arthritis.

What happens?

The weekend runs from Friday evening till Sunday evening, and we'll be staying in a residential activity centre (we use two lodges, one of which is fully accessible). To get there, we usually arrange bus transport from various locations,  leaving Friday 6pm and returning by Sunday 6pm.

There will be a range of activities that take into account the different range of abilities that people may have. Activities may include:

  • kayaking/canoeing
  • abseiling
  • gorge walking
  • archery

In between we'll eat and chat together, giving you a chance to relax and recharge. Whatever happens it will be fun and informal.

What will it cost me?

Nothing! The course is free so it won't cost you anything.

It's for a maximum of 14 participants though - so if you want to come, book your place quickly!

If it’s free, how do I know it’s any good?

Joint Potential is new in Scotland but we know these events are great because we've run them many times elsewhere in the UK; the people who have been tell us they’ve enjoyed themselves and feel more confident about their condition. And we don’t leave you high and dry afterwards - we keep in touch so you still have some support available once the workshop is over.

I want to come along - what do I do?

If you'd like to come along, let us know as soon as you can as places are limited - we haven't a date for 2010 yet, but if you'd like to come along, let us know and we can contact you once the weekend is arranged. Use our form to request a place, text or call 07880 500437 or email Info@JointPotential.org.uk
