Anyone who interacts with people with arthritis can benefit from Arthritis Care’s Arthritis Awareness workshops. Health professionals are no exception, as Hampshire County Council’s, Learning & Development for Adult & Children’s Services staff recently found out.

In February, 38 health professionals at Eastleigh, Hampshire took part in two Arthritis Awareness Workshops, run by Arthritis Care. The delegates (occupational therapists, service advisers and sensory services team staff) found the information given during the workshops very useful and relevant to their work.

The three-hour workshop looked at a variety of topics including what living with arthritis is like, self-management techniques and how Arthritis Care can provide support.

Responses from participants included:

  • 'I am now more aware of what information is available to people with these conditions and also for their partners/family/friends/carers.'
  • 'I will be able to show more empathy for people I speak to. I can ask more relevant questions.'
  • 'I didn't realise how many of the population arthritis affects.'
  • 'Very much enjoyed the course – excellent – time went by quickly – so much useful information – stimulating.'

Do any of your employees have arthritis? If you have arthritis, perhaps an Arthritis Awareness workshop would be useful for your colleagues. People in all fields of work can benefit from our workshops – for more information, please contact us
