Janet Cowlard meets the Queen

Winston Churchill medallion leads to research project

In 2004 Janet Cowlard was awarded a Winston Churchill Travel Fellowship and spent seven weeks travelling the west coast of Canada and the USA to research arthritis pain management programmes.

Janet's award has lead to the development of a workshop for people living with all types of chronic pain called ‘Challenging Pain in the Community’. This is a randomised research project being run in partnership with the pain clinic at the Derriford hospital, Plymouth and Dr Sarah Andreae.

In June this year Janet Cowlard was invited to Buckingham Palace to receive her Winston Churchill Medallion from Her Majesty the Queen who is the patron of the trust.
