Positive future workshop

In October 2006 our first group of young people went on a positive future workshop to the Magdelen project in rural Somerset. The weekend was full of practical activities. There were also plenty of opportunities to talk about living with arthritis and learning how to manage life. Many of the young people found it an exciting experience. Here are two of their comments

'I feel more confident within myself and happy knowing there are other people my age going through the same pain.'

'It was fun to meet them and I don’t feel alone anymore. I feel part of an amazing group of people.'

Workshop dates for 2009 coming soon

The weekend was filled with a multitude of activities that all the participants could take part in.

One member of the goup said 'Interacting and making fires was great!' Another comment about the weekend was 'I thought it was really inspirational and I felt I wasn’t alone because I know there are people my age experiencing the same emotions.' There were other members of the group who felt similarly.

As well as building fires and making walking poles during the weekend, the participants had a chance to cook pizza in out door ovens, whilst the ducks looked on.This was also a popular activity. Two of the comments from the group were:

'We learnt a lot about bush craft and how to cook pizza’s in an outdoor oven'

'The farm was really good fun.'

During the weekend the participants got the chance to share their experience of living with arthritis as well as learning more about arthritis. Many have positive things to say about this. Their comments are below.

‘The people were really cool and funny.  We had a laugh.’
‘Brilliant as I thought I could talk about it without upsetting anyone.’
‘It was the first time I had talked about it with other people my age.’
‘I learnt a lot about arthritis.’
