The Challenging Arthritis course has been designed to help people who have arthritis to understand their condition and to be able to use a variety of measures in order to deal with the short, medium and long-term problems associated with it.

The scheduled course runs for two-and-a-half hours each week for a period of six weeks.

Some of the topics covered by the course are:

  • self-management and pain management principles
  • problem solving and goal-setting
  • healthy lifestyle
  • fatigue, and energy conservation
  • treatments and medication
  • depression
  • working with health care professionals
  • accessing community resources and Arthritis Care.

The courses are very informal. They are usually delivered by trained volunteers. Who have arthritis themselves and so speak from first hand experience.
