Healthy living – eating well and keeping active – really does make you feel great. A healthy lifestyle can make your arthritis feel better too. Being healthy does not equal being boring – there are fun ways of keeping fit and healthy food can be tasty. Exercising and eating healthily also encourages weight loss, and being lighter means less stress on your joints.
You don’t have to be a flashy chef to eat healthily. Steaming vegetables takes a few minutes and all you need is vegetables and water. Oily fish, like tuna, are versatile, tasty and good for you. We all have our favourites but try to balance your diet with different foods. Swap snacks such as chocolate bars and crisps for fresh fruit or a handful of nuts.
Get those feel-good chemicals pumping around your body by exercising regularly. By exercising, you will also increase your mobility and flexibility, and build up muscle strength, all of which will slow down the effects of arthritis.
