Do I need to notify the DVLA?

If you have diabetes that is treated with insulin, you must, by law, inform the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) as soon as possible after you have been diagnosed.

Do I need to notify my insurance company?

If an insurance company asks about diabetes, you must tell them that you have the condition. Failure to do so can invalidate your cover in the event of a claim. Failure to notify the DVLA can also invalidate cover. It is always worth shopping around for quotes from a number of insurers, as there can be a big difference in premiums.
