Arthritis Care's research poster voted best in conference at BSPAR

Jo Cumming, Arthritis Care's Helplines manager and Richard Hull, chair of Arthriris Care's Clinical and medical advisory board (CMAB) and trustee of Arthritis Care, successfully submitted an abstract to the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology (BSPAR) about the work of The Source helpline (0808 808 2000) and the needs of children and young people with arthritis and their families.

This was the first time we had submitted this kind of data to the BSPAR annual conference and not only were we successful in having it accepted as a poster but we were overjoyed to be given the first prize for the poster. Jo accepted a £100 cheque on behalf of Arthritis care.

Jo said "This is a wonderful accolade to the work the helplines team has been doing and a great celebration of our tenth year operating The Source.  We have reached nearly 3,700 families and young people in that time".

One of the delegates, Catherine McAllister, paediatric rheumatology research nurse at Musgrave Park Hospital Belfast, described the helplines team as being "angels in their work with parents, families and young people".
