Our Northern Ireland branches enjoy a day of fitness and fun
Our Arthritis Care branches in Northern Ireland recently got together for an annual Branch Engagement and Games day at Ballybrakes Bowling Club in Ballymoney.
80 branch members and staff came along and many got involved in Boccia and New Age Kurling competitions and indulged in relaxing therapies including podiatry, acupuncture and massage. Benefits advisers from Advice NI were also on hand to help people with any benefit queries.
DJ Bob kept everybody entertained, providing the soundtrack for the day which prompted branch members and staff to strut their funky stuff and launch into spontaneous bouts of line dancing!
Our CEO Liam O’Toole (pictured right) and Stewart Long, Director of involvement and Services joined us for the day and they couldn’t resist getting involved in the fun themselves. They hadn’t reckoned on the competitiveness of the Northern Ireland branches though, but they did put up a valiant effort in both competitions and really enjoyed the games and the opportunity to meet the branches.
Congratulations go to the Boccia competition winners, Portglenone and the runners up Ballymoney. Portglenone also fought off a strong challenge from Magherafelt to become New Age Kurling Champions. Well done to everyone involved for a giving us a competitive tournament. Huge thanks also go to the staff and Disability Sport NI for making the day such a success.
